Montegrappa - Grappa

Inspired by the Italian spirit, Grappa, luxury writing instrument manufacturer Montegrappa has created a new addition to its cult collection, the Grappa Pen.

Grappa is an alcoholic beverage that is produced in a particular steampunk distillery in Bassano del Grappa, the town that also happens to be Montegrappa's home.

Inspired by the drink, this Grappa pen combines the heritage of the drink with steampunk aesthetics. Cap and barrel evoke distillation vessels and are made of stainless steel, brass, and copper. Using a hand-applied hammering process, the copper is connected with decorative screws. The top of the cap has a disc of real cork, similar to the stopper of a grappa bottle. Within the cork surface of the cap, a filigree cut octagonal grid has been handcrafted, symbolizing Montegrappa's eight-sided logo. The cork, which has been dipped in a mature grappa, also emits a slight aroma. The 18Kt gold nib has been engraved with a bunch of grapes.

There are two different editions of the Grappa Pen - a rollerball and a fountain pen, both with cartridge and converted ink absorber. The company was founded in 1912, so only a limited number of 1,912 pieces of each type are available for this pen.
